With over 25 years of hands-on experience as an equestrian, farmer, and horse caretaker in Ponce de Leon, Florida, Melissa Mote offers a thoughtful range of equine services rooted in genuine care, deep knowledge, and a lifelong love for horses.
Melissa's equestrian background runs deep. She is a former competitor and member of the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC), and previously owned and operated a Seminole Equine Feeds dealership and tack boutique — bringing hands-on industry knowledge that few can match.
Melissa is currently owned by two remarkable mares: Fara, a APSL/IAHLA Lusitano mare, and Peninah, a German Riding Pony — both of whom inspire her work and deepen her connection to the horses in her care.
Melissa maintains a limited client list to ensure every horse and owner receives her full attention, absolute discretion, and the highest standard of care.

Horse Sanctuary & Boarding
Nestled in the peaceful countryside of Ponce de Leon, Mote & Mare offers a professional, caring environment where horses are known by name and treated like family. We accept a limited number of boarding clients to ensure every horse receives individualized, attentive care.
- Retirement Boarding — Spacious pasture turnout, attentive daily care, and nutritious feed including our own organically grown hay, in a calm, low-stress setting.
- DIY Boarding — Clean organic pastures, 24/7 grass turnout, and access to farm facilities, with flexible arrangements to suit your schedule.
We grow our own organic hay on-site and work with an equine nutritionist to tailor each horse's diet as they age.
