About Us

Welcome to Mote & Mare

From captaining sailing charters on Bermuda's sapphire waters to tending the rolling emerald pastures of Ponce de Leon, Melissa Mote -Founder, has spent a lifetime rooted in the earth and drawn to the sea. For over twenty years, she has grown organic hay, cared for horses, and handcrafted jewelry of rare beauty — Bermuda sea glass, natural gemstones, pearls, and leather — each piece a wearable heirloom born of the coast and the land.

Our Story

Before trading ocean breezes for open pastures, Melissa captained sailing charter boats for Bermuda Wind Sail Charters, navigating the crystal-clear sapphire waters of Bermuda and sharing the magic of the island with visitors from around the world. That deep connection to the sea is woven into every piece of jewelry she creates — especially her signature Bermuda Sea Glass jewelry, each piece a small treasure reclaimed from the ocean.

Every piece in our collection is individually designed and handmade, from shimmering Bermuda Sea Glass jewelry to natural gemstone, pearl, and leather "fancies" — wearable works of art that carry the spirit of the coast and the warmth of the islands. We also offer a curated selection of vintage finds for those who appreciate the charm of the past.

The Farm

Mote & Mare is more than a shop — it is a working farm rooted in sustainable, regenerative practices and a deep commitment to conservation. We grow organic hay and flowers and offer both Retirement Horse Boarding and DIY Horse Boarding for those who want a peaceful, caring home for their horses. Our farm is a place of purpose, beauty, and deep respect for animals and the land.

Our Services

Melissa brings decades of expertise as both an experienced farmer and equestrian, as well as a Realtor, offering personalized consulting services to help you find your perfect property or navigate the world of farming and horse care.

Mote & Mare is more than a shop. It is a working farm, a conservation mission, and a celebration of a life beautifully and intentionally lived — where sustainable stewardship, vintage charm, and old-world craftsmanship meet the finest coastal equestrian lifestyle.

Thank you for being here. We hope our creations and our story bring a little coastal magic into your life.
